On April 29, 1992 Los Angeles, Ca burned for almost a week in protest of the not guilty verdict of four White police officers caught on video brutally beating motorist Rodney King.
Anyone around at the time can tell you that if you listened to LA hip hop you knew it was coming. While the media has almost exclusively reported the events that followed as shameless petty theft the people and the music tell a different story.
